| COLD-X10 Everyone, at some time in their lives, will experience the miserable symptoms of the common cold. Those nagging, bring you down symptoms which include headache, sneezing, head and sinus congestion, fever, coughing and watery eyes. The common cold is an upper respiratory tract infection caused by a virus. The difficulty in treating the common cold is due to the fact that the cold virus is always changing its size, shape and form. This ability to change means that we never get the same cold twice, but it also means that making a vaccine to prevent us from getting the common cold is virtually impossible. When a cold virus invades our body, specialized cells found in our immune system identify the cold virus and send armies of these specialized cells to kill the virus. Although our bodies can do quite a remarkable job of defending our health, sometimes they need some assistance. . . . | |
